Hannah stumbled - almost literally - across this nearly 2' long copperhead in our backyard earlier tonight. With Matt out of town, I called our neighbor, Allan, who put on quite a show trying to kill him with both a shovel and the stones from around the tree. That snake sure was scrappy, but his head was finally chopped off and buried for good measure. Sure - we could be all granola and love our fellow earth-dweller, but come ON. We have kids and a puppy. That trumps granola any day.

I sure hope you used the zoom! I can't believe you even got close enough for the photo. Yuck, I hate snakes!
